I don’t know about you, but I just love Murder Ballads. Nick Cave’s Murder Ballads is one of my favourite albums. And a lot of my favourite songs have murder and death in them. Also, some of my own.
Is that morbid? I have a feeling I’m coming off as a bit creepy right now.
Let me start again.
Like Tom Waits, I love it when a beautiful melody tells me terrible things. I don’t know what it is. But then, I’ve never been exactly normal. I’ve always been fascinated with evil people, like serial killers and horrible dictators and such. And songs about evil and destruction just do it for me, I don’t know.
Anyway, I wanted to share a cover I did with my band of a wonderful murder ballad by Neil Young. We recorded this years ago for a Neil Young Cover contest run the the Icelandic National Radio. We did not win, but I’m pretty happy with it, so I wanted to share it here.
I hope you like it.
Also, I hope you’ll join my Facebook group! It’s a great place to chat about music and life, have a drink and share stories. I hope you’ll join us. It’s a nice place.
Folk on!
